FindSquad Inc. ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and website.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

FindSquad uses anonymous authentication. We do NOT collect your name, email, phone number, or any personally identifying information to create your account.

Anonymous user ID (randomly generated, not linked to your identity)
Display name (optional - you choose this, defaults to "Squad Member" + random characters)
Avatar color (randomly assigned)

We do NOT collect: Email address, phone number, real name, or social media accounts.

2.2 Location Data

Real-time GPS coordinates when participating in searches
Location history during active searches only
Search area boundaries (when creating searches)

2.3 Search Information

Search type (pet, item, missing person)
Search description and details
Photos uploaded to searches
Chat messages within searches

2.4 Payment Information

Payment card information (processed by third-party payment processors)
Purchase history and credits balance

2.5 Technical Data

Device type and operating system
App version and usage analytics
IP address and general location

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and improve the FindSquad service
Coordinate volunteer search efforts
Process payments and manage credits
Send important service notifications
Respond to support requests
Detect and prevent fraud
Comply with legal obligations

4. Location Data Sharing

Your real-time location is ONLY shared with:

Other participants in searches you actively join
Search organizers when you volunteer

We NEVER:

Share your location with third parties for advertising
Track your location when you're not in an active search
Sell or monetize your location data without permission

Our CEO is outspoken about this: if we ever wanted to use your data for anything beyond running your mission, we would ask first and compensate you fairly. No exceptions.

5. Data Retention

Location Data: Deleted within 10 days after a search or game ends (or immediately upon request)
Search/Game Data: Retained for up to 90 days for support and compliance, then deleted
Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
Payment Data: Retained per payment processor requirements
Immediate Deletion: You can request a one-click purge at any time, and we’ll wipe everything right away

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase: Database and authentication
Mapbox: Mapping and GPS services
Stripe/Apple Pay/Google Pay: Payment processing
Analytics: Usage statistics (anonymized)

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption, secure servers, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and data
Export your data
Opt out of marketing communications
Withdraw location permissions (will prevent app functionality)

9. Children's Privacy

FindSquad is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us immediately.

10. California Privacy Rights

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt-out of sale (we do not sell personal information).

11. International Users

FindSquad is based in the United States. If you are accessing from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

12. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification.
